Start Over

The Washington Street Duplex is one of Moscow's remodeled older homes which has been divided into one large and one small dwelling. It offers maximum privacy and space. It is in a residential area and is located within a stone's throw of a shopping center and within walking distance of the center of Moscow.

420 N. Washington: The small unit (416 sq. ft.) is on the right side of the building and dons a house-like entry. The living room is on the street side, the bedroom is in the back for utter peace and privacy, and the kitchen lies in-between. The high ceilings offer much more vertical space than modern apartments. A free standing tool shed, and a huge fenced yard with century-old trees are part of this unique apartment. This one bedroom feels like a house and offers unparalleled privacy. The big fenced yard in the back is heaven for a pet.

422 N. Washington: The large, house-like dwelling (1510 sq. ft.) is on the left side of the building. It has two bedrooms upstairs and a third bedroom/study downstairs off the living room. The bathroom is off the spacious, well-lit kitchen. The general impression of this nice house is abundance of space with lots of windows, which create a bright and airy ambiance. The living room has to be seen to be appreciated -- it's like two living rooms side by side reminiscent of past, grander times. This enormous space can accommodate a great number of party guests, should the occasion arise, or the right side of this huge living room can be a spacious formal dining room punctuated by its own chandelier. The high ceilings offer much more vertical space than modern apartments. The upgraded heating is electric and each room has its own individual thermostat control. A washer and a dryer are included. The house has been thoroughly weatherized by Avista. Also part of this unique dwelling are two porches (one of which is enclosed), a free-standing double-door pantry, and a huge yard with century-old trees. Parking is available on the private driveway or off-street.

Why rent a house? One of the reasons is privacy. You don't share walls and floors and noise with neighbors. Your comings and goings and their comings and goings do not intersect. While living in a house surrounded by a big yard and mature trees, you revel in the spaciousness, charm and uniqueness; you love the layout, and the higher ceiling; really, it's where the nostalgia of yesteryear becomes an actual taste of the past. And if you like to grow things, like your own vegetables, a house is where you surely can. Living in a house gets you closer to feeling at home. Compared with living in an apartment, living in a house is truly a different experience.
